My name is Huang Neng Geng.

Current work: I am working in the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand. My job is to develop Web-based training courses in the Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management (AARM) Program at AIT. For this purpose, I have designed and implemented an Internet-based distributed educational system. It is designed for students to access to multimedia course materials, submit assignments, and participate in discussions through the Internet. It also provides an on-line course development environment so that the instructors could easily edit and organize course materials, check assignments, communicate with students, and share materials with other teachers through the Internet.

Skills:

• Excellent experience on HomePage design, ADO Database-based homepage design (active server pages).

• Excellent experience on application: MS Excel, FrontPage, Image Composer, and MS Access.
  • For personal interesting, I developed a shareware called xlCBT. It is an add-on for Microsoft Excel 95 & 97 that helps instructors to prepare CBT (Computer-Based Training) materials based on Excel. Please visit the homepage of xlCBT if you are interested in it
• Experience on multimedia (both hardware and software): slide scanner, CD writer, Video Blaster, ToolBook, CorelDraw, Adobe PhotoShop, and Adobe Premiere.
• Years of experience on computer programming: C/C++, Visual Basic, Foxpro, Clipper, and Pascal.
• Work experience in Unix, MPE (an operation system in HP/3000 minicomputer), and DOS/Windows environment.
• Language: English (fluent both in writing and speaking), Mandarin (native speaker), and Cantonese (native speaker).

Education:

• I got my M. Sc. in 1997 from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand. I majored in aquaculture and the title of my master thesis was "Designing of a computer-based training course on fish nutrition".
• I got my B. Sc. in1982  in zoology from Xiamen University, a famous university in south of China.

Work experience: I worked in the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center (FFRC) in Wuxi, China, from 1982 to 1995. During that time I was trained in computer programming and had seven years experience (as a computer engineer from 1987 until I left FFRC) on computer programming, including C/C++, VB, Foxpro, Clipper, and Pascal. One of my projects (Fish Germplasm Resources Database Application System) was designed by using Clipper and won the Second Grade Award for Excellent Software from Jiangsu Province Committee of State Science and Technology Commission of China (1990). I was one of the designers and the major programmer of this system.
